Set-Up a Spam Filter for pine

- Open pine and open
your Folder List (or type the L key).
- Create a new folder to hold your SPAM messages. Press A to Add a new folder; enter a
descriptive name (for example, Spam),
and press the Enter or Return key on your keyboard.
- Type M to return to
the Main Menu, then type S for Setup, R for Rules, and F for Filters.
- Type A to Add a rule.
- The first item (Nickname =
<No Value Set: using "Filter Rule">) will be highlighted.
Type A to Add Value, and enter a descriptive
name for the rule (for example, Spam
Filter). Press the Enter or Return key on your keyboard.
- Use the arrow keys to move down to Subject pattern = <No Value Set>.
Type A to Add Value. Enter ***SPAM***
and press the Enter or Return key on your keyboard.

Filter Action =
Set Choose One

( ) Delete
(*) Move
to Folder = <No Value Set>
Use the arrow keys to select to Folder = <No Value Set>
and type A to Add Value, and enter the name of
your SPAM folder (for example, Spam)
followed by the Enter or Return key on your keyboard.
- Type E to Exit Setup. When prompted to Commit changes, type Y for Yes.
Periodically check your Spam folder for unsolicited bulk
mail, and empty it as needed.
